Breaking: Congress extends EB-5 Regional Center program

Congress has passed a continuing resolution which extends the EB-5 Regional Center program, previously set to expire at midnight tonight, through December 11, 2015.

The extension of the Regional Center program came as part of a temporary spending measure to avert a government shutdown at the start of the new fiscal year tomorrow.

Now that the bill has received approval from both the House and the Senate, it is expected to be signed into law by the president before the deadline later tonight.

Congress now has until December 11th to pass a longer-term re-authorization of the EB-5 Regional Center program.

Three bills proposing renewal and additional regulation of the EB-5 Regional Center program have been introduced since January.

While today’s extension does not change Regional Center program requirements, most anticipate a final re-authorization of the program will introduce new compliance measures.
