Engagement Manager


Founded in 2005, NES Financial is a leading Silicon Valley based Fund Administrator with offices in San Jose, New York City and Boston.  We serve Private Equity, Venture Capital, Real Estate and other private funds, providing fund accounting, treasury, and investor services.


The Engagement Manager (“EM”) will be the relationship manager and primary point of contact for the company’s fund administration clients. Given the company’s goal is to deliver quality, high touch service, the EM role is critical. The EM will also have an active role in the sales and client acquisition process. EM’s are expected to possess a network of industry professionals that influence fund manager decisions with respect to the need for and selection of a fund administrator. They also should possess subject matter expertise in an area of relevance for the industry participants we serve and be prepared to monitor that area to develop relevant materials for distribution externally and internally keeping clients and company personnel updated on current events that impact their area of expertise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the client service team for assigned clients
  • Manage and oversee the onboarding of new clients
  • Work with sales to identify and acquire potential client prospects
  • Meet regularly with clients to keep them updated on industry trends, relevant issues, new regulations, and address their concerns and issues that arise
  • Meet regularly with industry service professionals to maintain a flow of prospects from influential service providers (lawyers, accountants, valuation firms) who can recommend prospective clients to the company
  • Support sales professionals in the pursuit of prospects
  • Represent the company at industry events
  • Develop updates and whitepapers (independently or in conjunction with other industry professionals) to keep clients and firm personnel updated on a specific area of industry expertise
  • Review and approve all client reports and coordinate information flow to the client’s external service providers (auditors, tax professionals, valuation firms)


Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in providing services to independent fund management firms (alternative investment experience preferred)
  • College degree
  • A working knowledge of private partnership and offshore structures
  • Ability to read and interpret complicated legal documents including Private Placement Offering Documents, Partnership Agreements, Investment Management Agreements and communicate key provisions to internal resources in simplified terms
  • Ability to interpret fee provisions and construct working models of the calculations that can be programmed into the accounting system and documented properly
  • Facility with accounting processes and procedures including ability to understand and evaluate financial statements, tax versus book accounting and valuation procedures for illiquid assets
  • General understanding of US regulatory standards and requirements for investment advisors and regulatory and reporting regimes in offshore domiciles
  • Strong analytical skills
  • An area of specific expertise of relevance to independent fund managers in the alternative asset industry
  • Strong communication skills including experience making presentations to large groups and composing written materials
