Director – Fund Accounting


Founded in 2005, NES Financial is a leading Silicon Valley based Fund Administrator with offices in Rockland, MA and New York City.  We serve Private Equity, Venture Capital, Real Estate and other private funds, providing fund accounting, treasury, and investor services.


The Director of Fund Accounting will lead a bi-coastal team of fund accountants and will work closely with clients’ controllers and CFOs to prepare accounting work and reconciliation packages. The accountant will work to ensure reasonability of all matters affecting the NAV, classification of assets and liabilities, and capital transactions. The goal is delivery of the highest quality work product. This role is both intensive as an individual contributor and cross functional collaborator.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cash and Portfolio Reconciliations (custody and non-custody)
  • Income and Expense Accruals
  • Partner/Shareholder Allocation calculations
  • Financial Statement preparation
  • Valuations and Price analysis
  • Preparation of compliance reporting information
  • Blocker corporation net asset value calculation
  • Investor distribution and capital call analysis
  • Investor Statement, Capital Call and Distribution preparation
  • Income and Expense Processing
  • Review and Organization of underlying holding/investment documents and statements
  • Review and Organization of fund documents to interpret and execute allocation requirements
  • Preparation of internal analysis and reporting
  • Audit support and financial statement review
  • Fund Accounting team management
  • Database maintenance

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Good working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
  • Advanced knowledge of requisite computer software and systems
  • Experience with Eze Investor Accounting / Penny-it-Works software preferred
  • 7-10 years of fund accounting experience in either a Private Equity or Venture Capital Fund, Real Estate Group, a “Big 4” accounting firm, a private fund related consultancy, or a Fund Administrator
  • Experience with structured credit investments and/or real estate a plus
  • Experience building and leading teams in local and distributed working environments
  • Experience communicating with C-suite executives required
